Woodlawn Explorers Preschool Program
Nurturing and valuing a child’s wonder, spirit and curiosity.
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new early childhood development program - Woodlawn Explorers Preschool. Designed for children ages 4 and 5, Explorers Preschool is an offering we have considered for some time. It embraces our “whole child” approach to learning and making sure that its students are prepared socially and academically for kindergarten.
“This program and its responsive classroom approach are natural extensions of all we do at Woodlawn,” said Holly Honeycutt, Woodlawn School Head of Lower School. “Our explorers program is focused on creating a supportive environment that nurtures adaptive, respectful, and emotionally intelligent young students who are eager and ready to learn."
Explorers Preschool is being launched for the 2021 – 22 school year and taught by Early Childhood Lead Teacher Deanna Robeano working in conjunction with Mrs. Honeycutt. The program's modern-day approach takes into account the present-day needs of each individual child. Childhood has been changing as children are more rushed and hurried than ever. This is the ideal moment to look at preschool through a new lens- one that combines a student-centered curriculum while honoring their natural curiosity, providing them time and space for learning. Woodlawn's 61-acre campus and its woods and gardens provide the model setting for the school’s interactive approach and exploration of nature.
“We are thrilled to launch this new program and to provide families with an opportunity to join the Woodlawn community,” said Mrs. Robeano. “Our approach is about nurturing a child's wonder, spirit, and curiosity that will ignite a passion for learning.”
