Woodlawn School Appoints Meghan Tally to Upper School Director
We are pleased to announce that Meghan Tally will join Woodlawn School as Upper School Director. Meghan comes to us from The Archer School in Los Angeles, where she has served as Upper School Director. At Windward School and at the American School in London, Meghan served in leadership positions such as Associate Division Head, Associate Director of Teaching and Learning, and Department Chair. She is an accomplished school leader and teacher of English, Language Arts and Humanities, bringing to Woodlawn twenty years of teaching excellence in lower, middle, and upper schools.
Meghan is a graduate of Harpeth Hall, an outstanding independent school located in Nashville. She earned her B.A. in English from Emory University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Meghan earned a Master of Arts in English from Boston University, where she was a Teaching Fellow under the supervision of US Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, and an M.A. in Independent School Leadership from Columbia University, where she was a Klingenstein Fellow.
As a school leader, Meghan has facilitated school-wide efforts to identify and develop core competencies for graduates that are aligned with the rapidly changing world our children will enter. She led her former school’s Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives and introduced a new interdisciplinary Humanities curriculum. Meghan brings to us a demonstrated record of excellence as a servant leader in support of students, teachers, and parents.
A member of her faculty writes, “Meghan’s teaching, leadership, and collaboration are a true gift to any community, consistently striking that elusive balance between systems and creativity.”
Meghan’s abilities and her experience align beautifully with our school’s mission, vision, culture, values, and our needs. When we speak of our desire for Growth – in quality, in the breadth and depth of the Upper School student experience, and in enrollment – and the relationship between Growth and improving Operational Excellence, we are describing our school’s desire to balance creativity and operating systems more consistently.
Meghan writes, “I am overjoyed about coming to Woodlawn where I hope to be a servant leader, learn and grow alongside colleagues and students, and practice education in ways I have dreamed of doing for twenty years since I was called to education. I love Woodlawn's commitments to nurturing independent lifelong learning and cultivating active global citizenship, and I look forward to becoming a part of the Woodlawn mission, culture, and story.”
Welcome, Meghan!
